In today's business world, the challenges faced by HR managers have become increasingly complex and diverse due to globalization. With companies expanding into new markets, managing a diverse workforce, and keeping up with new technology trends, HR managers must possess a unique set of skills to succeed. This essay will discuss the essential skills required for HR managers in a globalized organization, based on academic research.

One of the critical skills required for HR managers in a globalized organization is cultural intelligence or cultural awareness. According to Earley and Mosakowski (2004), cultural intelligence is the ability to understand, appreciate, and adapt to different cultural contexts. HR managers must be able to recognize and respect cultural differences while creating a unified culture across the organization. This involves developing policies and practices that are sensitive to the cultural diversity of the workforce, fostering a culture of inclusivity, and promoting cross-cultural communication and collaboration.

Another essential skill for HR managers in a globalized organization is leadership. As companies expand into new markets, HR managers must be able to lead and manage remote teams effectively. According to Lo, Ramachandran, and Jiang (2019), HR managers must have the skills to manage a diverse and dispersed workforce, develop a shared vision, and align employees' goals with the organization's objectives. This involves developing leadership skills, such as the ability to inspire and motivate employees, communicate effectively, and delegate responsibilities.

HR managers in a globalized organization must also possess excellent communication skills. According to Derous, Ryan, and Serlie (2015), effective communication is essential in a globalized organization to bridge cultural differences, build trust, and facilitate collaboration. HR managers must be able to communicate effectively with employees, stakeholders, and clients across different cultures and languages. This involves developing communication skills, such as active listening, empathy, and the ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely.

In addition to the above skills, HR managers in a globalized organization must be able to manage change effectively. According to Boxall and Purcell (2016), change management is essential in a globalized organization to adapt to new business models, technologies, and market conditions. HR managers must be able to anticipate and respond to changes in the business environment, manage resistance to change, and facilitate communication and collaboration among employees. This involves developing change management skills, such as the ability to manage ambiguity, promote innovation, and develop resilience.
